SUSTAINABLE OPERATIONS

10X LOWER
That means the GHG footprint for Miyoko's cashew milk cheeses is more that 10 times lower than that of animal dairy cheese!
Powered by Renewables
We participate in Sonoma Clean Power's CleanStart program, where half of the electricity we receive in our Petaluma HQ facility is 50% renewable, and 91% is carbon free.

SUSTAINABLE SOURCING

Zero Gallons
Zero (0) gallons of irrigated water are used to grow one cashew tree. Our cashews are 100% rainfed with no synthetic fertilizer and no irrigation.
Organic Farming
All our cashews are certified organic and grown without pesticides. They are grown in ways to protect and preserve their habitat.

Perennial Farming
Cashews are a perennial crop. Compared to annual crops, perennial crops provide greater protection against soil erosion, retain more water and nutrients, store more carbon in biomass, and are more resilient to pests.
HOW WE SOURCE
We are committed to transparency and working with the best suppliers as we transform the food system.

SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITY OUTREACH

Animal Welfare & Environmental Advocacy
We have worked with policymakers to advocate for changes designed to improve animal welfare and environmental policies. Our efforts have resulted in tangible institutional, industry and regulatory reforms, including our recent legal victory for vegan butter.
Food Rescue
We are committed to reducing food waste by making sure every cheese wheel and butter block we produce makes it into a meal, not a landfill. For this reason we stepped up our food rescue activities and engaged Replate, a national food rescue nonprofit, as our lead partner. In 2021, through our partnership with Replate, we have donated 93k pounds of food. This is the equivalent of 77.7k meals, which has saved 25.5 million gallons of water and diverted 191k pounds of CO2.

Equal Opportunities
Miyoko's is a welcoming and supportive company for people from all backgrounds:
• We ensure full and effective participation and equal opportunities within the workplace for workers of all genders, ages, races and ethnic origins, sexual orientations, religions and beliefs, and disabilities.
• We are a female founded company.
• More than 50% of our non-managerial workers and managers identify as women.
We partner with several eco-certification programs:
